Education

Rochester Institute of Technology, Class of 2022

Bachelors of Science: Mechanical Engineering Technology

Minor: Robotics and Automation

Objective

Ever since I was a kid, I have always loved to share my knowledge. It began with telling my fifth grade desk neighbor all about the elements on the periodic table and helping teachers in other elementary school classrooms with technology troubleshooting-- teaching has always been a major part of my life. In high school and college, I took on several teaching and mentoring jobs, becoming comfortable with private and group instruction both in person and online.

Most recently, I was afforded the opportunity to serve as an adjunct at my alma mater. I started teaching Mechanical Analysis and Design II (MCET551) a little over a year ago. For the course, I developed a Robotics Education Platform (see "Projects" below) to teach students about programming and controls engineering. I helped students translate these skills to practical applications in their capstone projects.

In addition to teaching STEM and robotics for several years, I have also taught social and competitive ballroom dance. I have been coaching my peers for nearly as long as dancing has been a hobby of mine. I started a competitive ballroom team at RIT in 2018; we have traveled to competitions all over the country. Recently, I independently opened a ballroom dance studio, where I teach several hours of lessons a week. Consequently, I have developed several new ways of teaching and mentoring (lesson structures, projects, diversity in explanation methods, etc.) in order to accelerate the learning process for all different types of learners. Additionally, I am hoping to soon teach a “Ballroom in Society” course through the new Performing Arts College at RIT.

It is my dream to use my knowledge and experience as an engineer, educator, and leader to push the boundaries of what education can be. I am continuously testing and prototyping, and so I am excited to keep expanding these boundaries and enriching the educational sphere.
