Hello everyone! Welcome to the Rochester Makerspace’s first ever Combat Robotics competition! This event will serve as a test round for our full fledged event coming in December. In the meantime, this competition will be relatively private, hosted for Rochester Makerspace members and friends. Here are the modifications we will be making to the aforementioned rules:
- With regards to rule number 4.1, we will not be offering any typical weight bonuses. We will give competitors a 2 ounce weight bonus if they use the main body chassis and motor housing from the Introduction to Combat Robotics class (however organizers reserve the right to revoke this weight bonus if a competitor attempts to take unfair advantage of this weight bonus).
- With regards to rule number 16.3.1.1., we will only be allowing the following materials: PLA, PLA+, and PETG.
- We will be using the following link to calculate theoretical weapon tip speed: https://ember.level5robotics.com/weapon
Additional Rules:
- All matches will be two minutes long.
- Teams will be guaranteed 15+ minutes between matches. Teams will be allowed one 10 minute extension for repairs.
- Overhead kinetic weapon attacks are not allowed.
- Ties/matches that last for the full two minutes will be handled by Judges Decision.
- If a Lithium Battery is ever seen during a match by a referee or staff (whether it is because your robot chassis cracks or because the battery falls out), the match will end and the other team will automatically receive the win by TKO (technical knockout).
- Each team will receive up to one 30 second “unstick” during any match, during which a referee will attempt to unstick your robot.
- All robots must be able to fit within a 5 gallon bucket.
